Digital art is more environmentally friendly. That does not mean I think it’s superior to traditional art on skill-level or anything, but it’s a huge PRO for someone like me who tries really hard to be environmentally conscious.
Most traditional artists I know go through paper like it was going out of style, including myself back when that was all I did. I tried to recycle whenever I could, but I have personally seen people like, at cons for example, shred up work they were unhappy with and throw it in the trash. What a waste, eh? Also when I was doing “REAL ART” I had charcoal-stained skin and black snot, and my hands cracked and bled from the oil paints and turpentine, even WITH gloves on. Hardly anything we threw away was bio-degradable, very few art supplies are recyclable, some of it is even toxic. Think of how many art supplies are packaged in plastic, how many trees are needed to supply the paper/brushes, how much cannot be reused once it’s old/dry/etc. Also I’m poor as shit, you know how much nice traditional art supplies cost a person per year? Digital art supplies are long lasting and there are MANY facilities willing to take old tablets out of your hands for recycling.
So I think there are many VERY legitimate reasons and advantages to digital art. If anyone ever tries to give me crap about it (and they have) you can bet they’ll get an earful from me.

Yeah it does. D: I remember how much paper I went through before I started using a tablet full-time. It was horrible.
